DEATH DEC 1914 • Junkins, Alberta, Canada
Died under mysterious circumstances around Christmas of 1914. Accusations of murder were levelled by his eldest son (Jake) against several of his brothers (plus his mother), which resulted in a highly publicized inquest and trial in April-May 1915. The evidence for the prosecution was so contradictory that the jury returned a verdict of not guilty to all charges without requiring evidence from the defense. The jury was also convinced that the death occurred from natural causes.
