John Joseph Angel, MD, 80, of Mequon, WI entered eternal life on May 25th, 2021.

He was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louise Angel (née Hauser); his five children, Victoria (Brian) Hagan, John (Yamuna), Chris (Tracae), Chad (Tonya) and Luke (Jennifer) and granddaughter Anika Angel.

He was the son of Dr. John and Mercedes Angel. He was born on July 22nd, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Loyal Stritch School of Medicine in 1966. He was proud to have served as Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy.

John, a retired anesthesiologist, practiced medicine for 48 years. The majority of his career was spent at the University of Tennessee in Memphis; for a portion of that time, he was Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology. He was a renowned anesthesiologist and often patients would go out of their way to compliment him on his bed-side manor. He rounded out his career in the Burn Unit at The MED, where he continued to provide compassionate care. He was a mentor to future generations of health care providers.

He was a devote Catholic and a proud 4th degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, a member since 1973.

He loved being in his garden, feeding the birds and being outdoors. His hobbies were photography, painting, and listening to music.
