Riley Robertson Johnson was the son of William Riley Johnson and Mary Caroline Clark. Riley was the grandson of Moses Johnson and Martha Brown.

Father of Eva Dell Johnson and Grandfather of Jack,Don,Jenevia,Patricia, and Brenda

Grandfather of Bobby Johnson

My grandmother died in 1939 and my grandfather lived with my family for 14 years. My father built a room onto the back of our house so he could have his own place. During the war he was the street guard. With his hardhat, flashlight and whistle he walked 3 blocks checking for lights. He took his job very serious. In the evenings he told us stories about his life. He was always on our side and gave us wonderful advise on getting out of trouble. He took us fishing, played checkers, he always won, and on 4th of July helped us with our fireworks, he shot off the end of his finger one year so stayed on the sidelines after that. Our grandfather gave us love, support, and wonderful chidhood memories. He was the love of my life and I still miss him.

Mary Clark was the daughter of Luther Clark and Susan Whitefield. Riley's father was killed 3 months before he was born. Mary returned to Tennessee with her 2 year old son, Melvin E Johnson. She gave birth to Riley R Johnson at her mother's home in Putnam Co, TN on April 9, 1872. Mary never remarried and died in Lamar Co, Texas at the age of 87.
