Adam R. Kortes, age 27, of Danville, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at his home.

He was born on Sunday, May 7, 1995, in Pittsburgh, a son of Richard A. and Kristine (Heipel) Kortes. Adam graduated from the Danville Area High School in 2015. Adam was a loving innocent soul taken too unexpectedly. He loved giving and receiving hugs. He also loved to help people, especially the elderly or disabled. He had a radiant, infectious smile. He loved all kind of animals. After graduating from high school at the age of 21, he did not want to go and live in a group home, he chose to live with both his parents. In this world, Adam was a unique individual. He loved his entire family. His favorite season was summer, he would sit outside for hours in the shade during the summer playing with his Thomas and Friends Train set.

When diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum, he wasn't withdrawn, he was very outgoing. His mother remembers the doctor saying that he will use the outgoing personality to his benefit. His favorite color was red. We had to go to outside Philadelphia to get the car his mother wanted, it was bright red, that car became his chariot. Adam lived for 3 things each year, they are Camp Emerge (a camp for families touched by autism, held at Camp Victory), The Bloomsburg Fair, and finally, Christmas. He was innocent, he believed in Santa Claus. Adam was his parent's world, especially in his mother's eyes, she became his caregiver.

As a family, they went into the community. Adam loved to eat out at least twice a week. Because of his outgoing personality, people would remember him. His sweet, innocent soul will be greatly missed, especially by his parents. His passing was a great loss to his family, the community and the entire world. He was a member of the Danville AMPES. Adam loved to listen to all kinds of Christmas music, all year long. He loved to play Uno and board games, especially Trouble.

Survivors include his parents; Richard A. and Kristine Kortes of Danville, paternal grandmother, Charlotte Kortes of Girard, OH, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Journeymate Wesleyan Church, 1700 Main Street, (Lightstreet), Bloomsburg.

Funeral Services will begin on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 1:30 pm at Journeymate Wesleyan Church with Rev. Thomas J. Carney, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Kortes family.
