Marie Christensdatter Odloug was born in 1837 in Rinbebu, Norway. She traveled to Inderoy where she married Elling Johannessen about 1859. They were the parents of eleven children—two sons and nine daughters, the youngest of whom died in infancy. Marie and Elling owned a bakery in Inderoy. They were dedicated, Christian people, who served their community well.
Elling died in 1898, and as their older children had already immigrated, Marie left Trondheim in August 1901 along with her younger daughters, Ingeborg, Massie, Gudlaug and Thora. They arrived a few weeks later in the Port of Boston and from there made their way to Ashland, Wisconsin, to join the family who were living there.
Marie lived in her own home in Ashland until sometime in the 1920s when she moved in with her daughter, Thale Yderstad. She died September 26, 1931, in Ashland, Wisconsin.
