Mabel was adopted as an infant by Adolph (Al) Ingham & Mary Anna (Hughes) Ingham in Oklahoma, through the Oklahoma & Indian Territory Children's Home Society. She had been abandoned by her family and left on the door step of the Children's Home according to her adoption papers in 1908. She was their only child.

She married (1) Edward C. Lucas and marriage ended in divorce. Edward Lucas abandoned wife and child, she received divorce on extreme cruelty.

She married (2) to Axel Julius Anderson on 11 October 1928 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

They lived in Osceola, Nebraska and later moved to Central City, Nebraska. After Axel's death in 1958 she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where her daughters were living.

She was the mother of four children.

Virginia May Lucas Anderson; Alfred Julius Anderson; Betty Ann Louise Anderson, and Donald Lee Anderson (Donald died at the age of 2 months old).

She is buried at the Central City Cemetery along side her husband Axel J. Anderson and her infant son Donald.

Her son Alfred is buried in Grand Island, Nebraska. And her daughter Virginia is buried in Lincoln, Nebraska at Wyuka Cemetery.
