Martha Jane Webb Cochran, age 84, of Candler, NC passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023 at The Laurels of Green Tree Ridge in Asheville, NC.

Martha was born on September 30, 1938 in Buncombe Co., NC to the late James E. Webb and Nellie Creasman Webb. She graduated from Owen High School with a future pursuit of education in business.

She worked as a secretary to the district superintendent of Agriculture for the Tennessee Valley Authority. Martha had many interests and hobbies. She had a love of gardening and she enjoyed being out in nature which stemmed from her years of employment with the TVA.

Martha also had a lot of fun and enjoyment going on outings. She enjoyed going out to lunch, going for coffee, and wine tasting at the Biltmore Estate.

Martha was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. All who knew her and loved her will miss her.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ernest S. Cochran; two brothers, Fred Baker and James E. Webb; a sister, Sybil Baker Vess; and a sister-in-law, Jeanne Webb.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Trace Cochran (Kathy) of Newton, NC; a granddaughter, Jordan Cochran, of Newton, NC; a grandson, Carson Cochran (Lindsey), of Maiden, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special "thank you" to Martha's best friend and companion, Katie Stevenson, for always being there for her. Their mutual friendship was a gift from God.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home, 125 South Avenue, Swannanoa, NC, officiated by Pastor James Lamb.
