Will:
In the name of God, Amen. I, Abraham Bixler of Carroll County in the state of Maryland, being sick of body, but sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding; considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say. First- and principally I commit my Soul into the hands of Almighty and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor here after named and after my debts and funeral charges are paid, I devise and bequeath as follows. I give devise and bequeath unto my faithful son, George Bixler and his heirs and assigns forever, all my real and personal Estate that I die possessed of situate, lying and being Carroll County aforesaid being the premises whereon I now reside. My said son George Bixler is to pay all my just debts and to pay to my daughters, Elizabeth, allied with William Smith the sum of fifty dollars one year after my death and so on annually until the sum of five hundered dollars are paid and her receipts and acquittances for the same shall be as binding as if she were a female sole. And whereas I have made advances to my son in law Samuel Epley who intermarried with my daughter Rebecca for large sums of money containing in whole about twenty five hundred dollars, I therefore exclude them from any participation of my estate, and whereas the said Samuel Epley obtained from me which were not accounted for certain obligations which wer not accounted to me for, if in case the said obligations should be presented by the Sam Epley, I do herby deprive him of the benefit of my estate. And whereas I have advanced to the said Willim Smith in the sums in cash and collateral security for printing materials, money amounting in the aggregate to about eight hunderd dollars, I therefore exclude him from participation of my estate. And lastlly I do hereby constitute and appoint my faithful son George Bixler, the sole executor of this my last will and testament revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made ratifying and confirming this and none other to by my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 21st day of July in the year of our Lord 1856.
