She lived in Lawrenceville, Virginia where she and daughter NeKisha loved going to football and basketball games. She was also a member of the Brunswick Senior High Booster Club, and a member of First Baptist Church.
Joyce worked at the Craddock Terry shoe factory for several years. Her favorite hobbies were making floral arrangements, gift baskets, sewing quilts and being a great hair stylist, she also liked going to a good yard sale every now and then.
Whenever you went to her home, she always had something for you to take back with you. Due to health reasons in 2011, she moved to Richmond, Virginia where she continued doing the things she loved to do.
Joyce Hawkins peacefully departed this life on Thursday, October 5, 2017, in her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was proceeded in death by her father Wiley Thompson Sr, mother Bessie Thompson, siblings Wiley Thompson Jr, Sarah Blackwell, Lena Williams and Sterling Thompson Sr.
