He was 77, a native of Melville and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was a retired LSU Police officer and a United States army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Trinity Union Lodge 372, the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Korean War Veterans Association, and Myrtle-Celeste Chapter 231 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by his wife, Sadie LaJoyce Lilly Bergeron; two daughters, Angelia Joyce Mackay and Brenda Gail Lege; three sons, Ronald Dean Bergeron, Hugh Ray Bergeron, and Duane Lee Bergeron; seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Moran Bergeron; a son, Charles Randy Bergeron; his sisters, Dora Mae Fonte and Ruth Spillman; and a brother, Wilfred Arnold Bergeron.
