Viola worked at St. Mary's Hospital as a Nurse's Aide. She had also worked in the Bradley School District #61 as a cafeteria worker.
Viola attended Kempton Nazarene Church in Kempton where she attended services and taught Sunday School until she met Duane Erwin and married.
She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she attended services and taught CCD (Sunday school) for several years.
Surviving are three sons and one daughter-in-law, Brian & Paula Erwin of Peotone, Tim Erwin and Todd Erwin, both of Murfreesboro, TN; four grandchildren, Joshua, Coltin, Sierra, and Brandon; one great grandchild, Oliver; two step-grandchildren, Brittany and Nate; eight sisters, Delores Yarneau, Alice Leuer, Lois Rademacher, Helen DeRose, Charlene Bessen, Betty Cook, Verna Hall, and Mary Dressler; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Dan & Paula Erwin, Randy & Cindy Erwin, and Rexene Doss; and special nephews, Seth Hall and David Yarneau. In addition to her most beloved husband of 59 years, Duane Erwin, Viola is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harry Coffman Jr. and Robert Coffman; and one sister, Judy Coffman.
To honor Viola's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private service will be held at a later date with inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Viola was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
