Jose Reducindo married Refugia Sanchez November 10, 1843 in the town of Belen, New Mexico. The Church was Nuesra Senora de Belen, NM. His parents were Jose Antonio Enrique Chaves and Maria Micaela Baca. He was one of the founders of Pino Wells Town

PINOS WELLS, NEW MEXICO:
Pinos wells is located about twelve miles northeast of Cedarville and about fourteen miles southwest of Duran. The first settlers were Isidro Lucero, JOSE REDUCINDO CHAVEZ and antonio Adan Salas. Antonio Salas had two wells west of the town near two pine trees so the name Pinos Wells was chosen for the settlement .
The Santa Fe Trail from White Oaks to Santa Fe went through the town and was a stop-over for lodging, feed and water. This was the only place between Patos(ducks) south of Corona and White Lakes where there was water available. The town grew and at on time there was two stores, two saloons, a rooming house and the first post office in this area. (1884-1919).
Reducindo orginally was from Tome, New Mexico. Being that he was a sheep herder. He eventually made his way to the area now called Pinos Wells. Looking for water was the main purpose for taking the sheep to that area making him one of the first settlers of Pinos Wells.
