John Austin Morgan is the son of Edward Joel Morgan and Fannie Williams. His parents are buried at Clyde Cemetery, Clyde, Callahan County, Texas.

J. Austin Morgan, 84, of 2602 Marshall, a former school teacher, died at 8:17 a.m. Sunday at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder after a lengthy illness caused by a Cerebral Hemmorrhage. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Southwest Park Baptist Church.

The Rev. Paul Kenley, pastor, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Ira Harrison, retired Baptist minister. Burial will be at Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St.

Born Sept. 28, 1900 in Hunt County, Texas, he married Jewell Foster Aug. 29, 1929 in Abilene. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1934. He taught school for 18 years and was a teacher at Wyle High School in 1945, retiring in 1946. He worked for the Abilene Reporter News for 21 years, retiring in 1965 and was recently employed with McMurry College. He was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years.
