Son of Fenton McCarty and Mary Elizabeth (Seahorn) McCarty.

Married Myrtle McAllister, 28 May 1902. 1910 census she is Ada M. McCarty.

Summary
Born 30 Jun 1881 on the old homestead near Mead, NE, died 23 Mar 1917 at his home in Mullan, ID, age, 35Y, 8M, 23D. On 28 May 1902 he married Miss Myrtle McAllister of Valparaiso, NE and went west to homestead near Prosser, WA. He remained there for 5 years, then moved to Mullan, ID where he an accident caused his death. While driving a team for the McRae Express Co. he was stuck by a snow slide.
The funeral services were held Saturday at the home of his mother, Mrs. M. E. McCarty of Wahoo, NE. Father Nemec of the Catholic church officiated. Laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery near Mead.
He leaves to mourn his death, a wife, mother and father, 6 sisters and 1 brother, relatives and friends.

Paul L. McCarty, a driver for A. P. McRae was taking 2 women and a couple of trunks to a residence up Miner gulch, after the delivery he took the rig up the road to turn around, while shoving the snow to get the horses turned around a slide came down from the east side and completely buried him and the horses. Two small boys with him, Bowman and Erickson. The Bowman boy seeing the slide got away and gave the alarm.
The Erickson boy was buried near the edge of the slide was rescued about four hours later in a semi-conscious condition. Taken to his parents' home and under the care of a physician was soon revived.
A large crown of men kept shoving snow in an effort to find McCarty. Long poles were used but no ground was found. Tunnels in the snow found McCarty's body lying close to the horses, about nine

o'clock in the evening. The snow at the road between 30-40 feet deep.
Mr. McCarty was married and lived in Mullan with his wife. Mrs. McCarty being the sister of Mrs. H. B. Chenoweth of this city. He was 35, his brother T. J. McCarty of Seattle was notified and arrived here Sunday and the body was taken to Wahoo, NE for interment on Monday afternoon accompanied by the widow and brother.
