Betty R. Aaron, 86, of Eau Claire died on Monday, March 17, 2008, at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona.
She was born in Madison, on April 17, 1921, a daughter of Roy and Joan (Jacobson) Fletcher. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1939. Betty married Lester "Pete" R. Aaron on Dec. 12, 1942, at Central Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minn. She graduated from Luther Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. Betty then worked in Hawaii, and later in Washington state during World War II. At the end of the war Betty and Pete returned to Eau Claire where she continued to work as a registered nurse at Luther Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital and then Chippewa Manor until her retirement in 1981. Betty and Pete were longtime summer residents on the Chippewa Flowage, where they shared many musky moments! Together they enjoyed Mother Nature and many good friends in the Hayward area. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, and had been active with the Hope Lutheran Church Ladies and Circle. She loved hobbies such as quilting, knitting and teaching her grandchildren how to bake.
Betty is survived by her husband, Lester; three sons, Robert (Debbie) Aaron and Dennis (Ruth) Aaron, both of Hayward, and James Aaron of Nipona, Calif.; her daughter, Brenda Aaron, of Tilden; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary (Jerry) Kuehn, of Green Bay; and nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, in the chapel at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home, 2512 New Pine Drive, Altoona, with the Rev. Randy Olson officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Thursday at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home.
