Died, Friday, Sept. 29, at Boston, Mass., Mrs. J. L. Crane.

Mrs. Crane was the widow of the late Rev. James L. Crane, formerly one of the best known ministers of the Illinois Methodist Episcopal conference and for some years presiding elder of this district. He was chaplain of Col. Ulysses S. Grant's regiment, the 21st Illinois, during the civil war and served as postmaster of Springfield for eight years under Grant's administrations.
