"Wolcott - The remains of Horace D. Wadsworth were brought to this village at 4 p. m., Tuesday, and interred beside his wife in the family plot in Glenside cemetery. Mr. Wadsworth died in Rochester at 4:30 p. m., Saturday, after being confined to his bed for five months with an obscure disease probably resulting from inflammatory rheumatism of long standing. The funeral was held from the home of his son, Leon B. Wadsworth, No. 222 Goodwill street, at 2 p. m., Tuesday. The deceased was born on the old homestead farm in Wadsworth Street, Sept. 19, 1862, the second son of the late Henry and Sarah A. Kindig Wadsworth. He married Miss Kate Betts, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Betts of North Wolcott on Jan. 8, 1890. She died July 12, 1899, leaving two sons, Leon B. and Marion C. Wadsworth, both of whom now reside in Rochester. Mr. Wadsworth early learned the carpenter trade, and was a skilled workman. He had charge of erecting the Northrup & Johnson building, and completed the Baptist church after earlier carpenters had reached the roof and were stumped by the problem of putting it on. Many other specimens of his handiwork may be found In this section. In the early fall of 1898, he was called to Fulton by H. Lester Paddock, and there erected the large paper mill of the Oswego Falls corporation. For six years thereafter he acted as millwright for that concern, which derived its power from the Oswego river. Thereafter he was millwright for the Hunter Arms company, also of Fulton, till rheumatism compelled him to retire and he went to live with his sons in Rochester. Besides the sons, he leaves three brothers, John O. and Dan E. Wadsworth of Wolcott, and Frank Wadsworth of Fulton. Throughout his life, while health permitted, he greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing, which were his chief recreation." (April 6, 1933, The Lake Shore News of Wolcott, NY)
