Mary Ann (Graeber) Bathe, of Houston, Texas, passed away on May 6, 2023, at the age of 87. Mary Ann, the youngest of seven children, was born on July 2, 1935 to Fritz and Meta Graeber. She was born in Old Washington, Texas where her love of bluebonnets began. After a few years, the family moved to Sandtown where Mary Ann attended school in a one room schoolhouse and later Burton high school. A few years prior to her graduation, her family moved to Pasadena, Texas where she graduated from Pasadena High School, the home of the Eagles in 1953.

Mary Ann worked at Prudential Insurance in Houston until she married the love of her life, Charles Bathe. They were married January 23, 1953, at First Lutheran Church in Pasadena, Texas. They moved to Waco, Tx for Charles to attend college. While he was at school, Mary Ann kept busy working at Dickies Clothing Company and Dr. Pepper bottling company. This explains her love of antiquing and searching for Dr. Pepper bottles. She would search for the small-town bottling companies from which they came. Charles and Mary Ann moved back to Houston so that they could help run the family business, Charlie and Max's Egg Farm and begin their family. In 1972 she resumed her career at Kindall Auto Repair then Mateco Truck Equipment Company. When Charles became ill, Mary Ann began to work part time at Heights Ice Company as a bookkeeper and friend. While living in the Heights Charles and Mary Ann were active members of Zion Lutheran Church and Mary Ann took pride in serving as PTA president for her children's school, Cooley Elementary.

After the passing of her husband, Mary Ann moved to Northwest Houston and became busy with her four grandchildren. When she was not at her grandchildren's activities, she traveled the country with her sister and two cousins. Mary Ann began to work at the Hallmark store, where she grew her Precious Moments collection. When it was time to slow down, she became a Mall Walker. There she created great friendships, where she enjoyed playing dominoes and gained everlasting friends. Mary Ann rekindled her love for sewing as she made baby quilts for all seven of her great grandchildren, including quilts, table runners and yo-yo Christmas trees for each member of her family. As part of Advent Lutheran Church's Piece Corps, Mary Ann contributed to completing more than 250 quilts that were distributed around the world with Lutheran World Relief. During this time, Mary Ann was an active member of Advent Lutheran Church in Houston as she lived a complete life and always ended each visit or conversation with "I love you!"

She is now with her husband, Charles Bathe, her parents, brothers sisters, and in-laws.

She is survived by their three children, Larry (Suzanne) Bathe, Penny (Donald) Kmiec and Mark (Connie) Bathe, and four grandchildren, Andrew (Sammie) Kmiec, Angela (John) Dietrich, Justin (Kari) Bathe and Mindy (Tim) Merta. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Makala Merta, Case Merta,

Maggie Kmiec, Mary Louise Dietrich, Brett Bathe, Hunter Merta and Kate Bathe. We love you, Mama, Grandma, GiGi. Thank you for blessing our lives!
