Former Alaskan Charlotte M. Adams, 78, died April 10 at her daughter's home in Prosser, Wash. A memorial service was held in Prosser. Graveside services were at Mountain View Cemetery in Centralia, Wash.

Mrs. Adams was born April 29, 1914, in Tenino, Wash., to Charles and Lilly Pennypacker. She spent her early years in Bucoda, Wash., and received her education in Centralia. In 1932, she married Jack Burton in Centralia, where they made their home. He died Nov. 11, 1948. In 1949, Mrs. Adams moved to Olympia, Wash., where she attended beauty school. In 1951, she married Elmer Adams in Doty, Wash. Following their marriage, they lived in Tumwater, Wash., and later moved to the Carson- Stevenson area. In 1963, she and Elmer moved to Petersburg, where she was a member of Order of the Eastern Star No. 12. Mr. Adams died in July 1970, and in 1971, Mrs. Adams moved to Prosser, where she was a member of First Baptist Church of Prosser. Mrs. Adams was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, a brother, C.B. Pennypacker, and a sister, Ann Kubie.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Arvid Dunkin of Prosser; her sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Judy Burton of Mabton, Wash., Charles and Patricia Burton of Ferndale, Wash., and David and Jeannie Adams of Anchorage; her stepdaughter, Beverly Orr of Centralia; her stepsons, Don Adams of Florida, Jim Adams of Alaska, and Thomas Adams and Bill Adams of Seattle; her sister, Grace Schmidt of Spearfish, S.D.; 28 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 17 step- grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were handled by Smith Funeral Home in Grandview, Wash.
