Jack and Kay raised three children together, introduced them to Jesus, taught them the value of hard work, and showed them how to enjoy life together.
Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, water skiing, softball, bowling, and swimming. He spent 20 years transforming a small cottage on Little White Fish Lake into a comfortable family home. He was his children's teacher in math and science. He was their coach for baseball and softball and instructor for swimming and water-skiing Jack guided his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild in life's adventures He was proficient working as an electrician, carpenter, lumberjack, landscaper, and mechanic, but his passion was small tool repair. He was known as the "Tool Doctor" at service companies throughout West Michigan.
Jack is survived by his loving wife Laurel Kay Gravelyn; their children, John Gravelyn, Angela (Jeremy) Taylor, Jacob (Veronica) Gravelyn; four grandchildren, Justin (Robin) Taylor, Abigail (Ryan) Grondsma, Jayvion Gravelyn, Josiah Gravelyn; four great-grandchildren, Esther Taylor, Isla Taylor, Mathew Grondsma and one expected on the way; three brothers, Larry (Lee) Gravelyn, James Gravelyn, Frank (Lydia) Gravelyn; their trusted canine companion, Gizmo.
The Memorial Service for Mr. Gravelyn will be held Friday, May 12, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Pederson Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Arnold and Mr. Jacob Gravelyn officiating. Interment will be in the Pierson Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the service at the Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe St., Rockford, MI 49341. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Gravelyn may be given to a charity of your choice.
