Sharon Marie Hatzer, 83, of Streator passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Pleasant View Healthcare in Ottawa.

Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 6:45 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Streator. Pallbearers will be her sons: Scott and Randy Hatzer; her grandson: Zachary Billyard; her brother: Byron Sabol; and George & Dan Cave.

She was born September 14, 1939 in Joliet, a daughter of George "Bye" and Kathleen (Noonan) Sabol. She married Francis A. "Bud" Hatzer on June 18, 1960 at St. Patrick's Church in Minonk. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2015.

She is survived by sons: Scott (Kelly) Hatzer of Joliet and Randy (Naomi) Hatzer of Streator; grandchildren: Brianna Rechichar, Alyssa Billyard and Zachary (Brittany) Billyard; two great-grandchildren: Lillian and Liam Hillier; a brother: Byron (Joy) Sabol of Scottsdale, Arizona; also surviving are many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a half-sister: Bernadette Oltman; and a half-brother: Tom Bakalar.

She was a member of the former St. Stephen's Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Parish.

Sharon worked as a secretary at Owens-Illinois Glass Company in the early years.

She was a member of the St. Stephen's Parents Club, Streator Elk's and volunteered as a Pink Lady at St. Mary's Hospital.

She was an accomplished organist and played in the St. Stephen's Adult choir for many years. She also performed for many weddings and funerals through the years.

One of Sharon's true joys was spending time at the family cabin on Plum Lake in Wisconsin. Spending time at the Lake home with her family and friends brought her great happiness. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
