Steven Rumery Forshay
November 17, 1942 - March 8, 2023

Steven Rumery Forshay of North Oaks, MN passed away March 8, 2023.

Steve was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Ray and Marjorie Forshay, the 2nd of three brothers. He grew up on Signal Mountain in Chattanooga.

In 1963 he married Judith Ann West, his "sweetheart" as he would often refer to her. Together they raised three children, William, Ann Marie, and Sally.

Steve proudly served his country in the Army Corps of Engineers in Kaiserslautern, Germany, as a 1st Lieutenant Unit Commander. Prior to his military service, Steve attended the University of Tennessee, earning a bachelor's degree in Science and Business Administration and then later obtaining an MBA.

Following his honorable discharge from the service, he began a lifelong career at 3M, which led to friendships that continued into his retirement. When Steve retired from 3M, he embarked on a life of service to his community.

He thoroughly enjoyed his volunteer work with Kiwanis. One of his peers referred to him as "the heart and soul of this club".

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Marjorie, his two brothers, Lee and Tim, and his beloved son, Will.

He is survived by his wife, Judith; daughters Skye Forshay and Sally Forshay Thornton; grandchildren, Benjamin Leonard, William Leonard, Alex Thornton, Julia Thornton and Ava Leonard; brother- and sister in-law Jack and Jackie Sneed; nephews Joel Sneed and Greg Forshay; nieces Daphne Sneed Holcomb, Michele Forshay Thompson, Paula Sneed Moss and Ruth Ellen Sneed Rahaley, and many cousins, great nieces and nephews.

A true Southern Gentleman in every sense of the word, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Steve Forshay Scholarship fund created by Kiwanis.

Memorial checks can be made out to North East Metro Golden K Foundation and sent to Jim Hedeen, 4785 Hodgson Rd., #326, Shoreview, MN 55126-6085
