Thomas "John" Eich, who lived the majority of his life in Monterey County CA, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 25, 2007 at the age of 62 years in his home in Los Banos, where he had recently moved.
John was born on June 12, 1945 in Hull, Iowa. He grew up in Southwestern Minnesota. After completing his service to his country in the United States Navy, he became a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. John was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #3, a voluntary fireman with Marina Public Safety and a lifetime member of American Legion Post #593. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards, as well as watching Viking football games and NASCAR.
John is survived by Joan Eich, his wife of 40 years and his son, Thomas (Tammie) Eich of Hollister. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Viola Eich; two brothers, Larry and Leroy Eich.
Visitation will be held on Wed, Aug 29, 2007 from 7-9pm and Thursday, Aug 30, 2007 from 9-1:30pm at Struve and Laporte Funeral Home, 41 West San Luis Street, Salinas, CA 93901. Funeral Service Thursday, Aug 30, 2007 at 1:30pm in the Struve and Laporte Chapel. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 1184 Monroe Street #1, Salinas, CA 93906. Arrangements by Struve and Laporte Chapel.
