PASSES AWAY FROM BLOOD POISONING
After lying in a semi-conscious condition for several days, Charles William Humphreys, a prominent Salem township farmer, living on the Charles Brand farm on the Saratoga road north of Urbana, died Tuesday morning at 6:45 o'clock. Death was due to blood poisoning, which he contracted about three weeks ago while carrying a barrel through a door. His finger was pinched between the barrel and the door scraping the skin and several days later a severe case of blood poisoning set in. For the past week he had been in a very critical condition.
Mr Humphrey was born in Belmont County December 15, 1867, and was 48 years of age at the time of his death. He had been a resident of Champaign and Logan counties for the past 26 years. Besides his bereaved wife, eleven children survive: Everett, William M, Russell A, Robert L, Martha M, Mary M, Esther L, Gladys E all living at home; Weldon O and Fred of West Liberty, and Earl L of Cable.
The funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock, standard time, from the Mt Carmel Church. Rev Calvin Stratton, of Mingo, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Mt Carmel Cemetery.
