Stephen Guy McCullough was born in Yellow Springs, Greene County, Ohio to Charles and Lydia Jones McCullough. One of three children, Charles moved with his family to the Gage County area in 1883. The family settled in Blue Springs where his father was prominent in politics. On September 14, 1898 Stephen married Margaret Roderick and to this union eight children were born. Stephen was known as "Guy" to family but some of his closest friends, especially his co-workers called him "Mac". Guy loved and enjoyed music. played in the Blue Springs Band and sang in a male quartette. Guy worked for the railroad at the roundhouse and depot before his health became bad.
