Obituary

Robert Paul Clearwater, 79, of Staatsburg, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 17, 2023, at home.

Born October 19, 1943, in Albany, NY, he was the son of Clayton and Frances Berg Clearwater.

In his younger years, Bob was a member of Boy Scouts, and eventually became an Eagle Scout, participating in the Eagle Scout Ceremonies for years to come, singing with his Doo-Wop group, The Majestics. He was also a member of the Order of DeMolay, and Lifetime Member of the Dutchess County Sportsmen's Association.

On January 23rd, 1965, in Holy Trinity Church, Poughkeepsie, he married the former Carole Peraino, Mrs. Clearwater survives at home.

Bob started working for Marine Midland Bank in Poughkeepsie before becoming a union electrician for the IBEW Local 215 until his retirement. He also worked for the New York State Dormitory Authority.

Bob enjoyed giving back to his community. He was an active parishioner at Good Shepherd Church in Rhinebeck, a member of the Elks Club and served as a Hyde Park Town Councilman, member of the Hyde Park Assessment Board, and Dutchess County Legislator.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Christene Way, and husband, George, of Staatsburg; two grandchildren, Caitlin Morrow and husband, Dylan, of Elmira, and Brendan McGann of Staatsburg; three step-grandchildren, Justin Way and wife, Meagan, of Pensacola, FL, and Courtney and Trevor Way, both of Saugerties; and two step-great-grandchildren, Hudson and Haven Way.

He is also survived by his niece, Jessica Clearwater-Mason; nephew, Jeffery Clearwater; and a sister-in-law, Sandra Clearwater.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Carl Thomas Clearwater.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7pm, Tuesday, May 16th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, Wednesday, May 17th at Good Shepherd Parish, 3 Mulberry St., Rhinebeck.
