Clarence Ernest Cook Jr., age 96, a former executive avionics instrumentation specialist, has died on April 30, 2023, at his home. He was born on February 2, 1927, in Shreveport, LA, to Marie Sasser and Clarence E. Cook, Sr. He lived most of his life in Shreveport, Houston, and Dallas. He attended Creswell and Byrd High School and served in the U.S. Army and as a U.S. Merchant Marine.

Clarence earned his Pilot License and enjoyed photography, opera, and computer programming in his free time. He loved Cuba, his many flights, and seeing wonderful concerts there. His love of airplanes lasted throughout his life. His career in avionics began in Shreveport, then he entered Houston in search of larger airports and opportunities. Clarence worked at Executive Aircraft for 20 years in Houston. He then worked for Cooper Industries maintaining a private fleet of jets out of Dallas, where he later retired. He was a wonderful father and mentor. He was very proud of his son, Peter, and all of his children.

Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine "Kitty" Cook; his parents, Marie Sasser and Clarence E. Cook, Sr.; special family friend, Charles Ellis, who lived with Marie until she passed; and his lovely shepherd childhood pet, Lady.

He is survived by his children, Peter Cook and wife Nancy, Colleen Klein, Douglas Taylor, Christina Miller, Michael Taylor, Stephen Taylor, Janis McKenzie, and Regina Taylor; grandchild, Anna Cook; and special friends, Logan LaCoss and Patricia Walker of Houston, TX.

A private graveside service will take place at Forest Park East Cemetery in Shreveport, LA.
