Obituary for
Danny Ray Burcham
Danny Ray Burcham, Sr., 71, of Corinth, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, June 16th at his home surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020, 3 o'clock pm, at East Corinth Baptist Church with Trae Burcham, Charles Stevenson, and Tommy Leatherwood Officiating. Interment will follow in the Love Joy Cemetery, Glen, Mississippi.
The service will be live streamed on the East Corinth Baptist Church Facebook page.
He was born on November 4, 1948 in Corinth, MS, to Robert and Beaulah (Jones) Burcham. He will forever be remembered by his family and friends.
Danny graduated from Kossuth High School in 1967. He and Peggy, his wife of 51 years were married on May 17, 1969. Danny was a devoted father who always took care of his children and never missed an event his kids participated in, especially basketball games. That devotion continued with his grandkids as he was an avid fan and supporter of anything his grandkids were involved in.
Danny's work career covered 40+ years at Mississippi Polymers (formerly known as Intex Plastics) where he held many jobs in the factory. Over the course of his career, he made many friends, a few of which he kept in touch with after retiring up to the day he passed.
Danny experienced health issues shortly after retiring that included heart problems, prostate cancer and Parkinson's disease. Danny's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.
Danny was a member of Corinth Lodge #116, Corinth Order of the Eastern Star #27, Booneville Order of the Eastern Star #12, and the Medinah Shriners.
Danny is survived by his wife, Peggy Hendrix Burcham of Corinth, MS, children, Danny Ray Burcham II (Jennifer) of Olive Branch, MS, Kenneth Tracy Burcham (Nui) of Lombard, IL, Roslyn Grisham (Ben) of Corinth, MS, 8 Grandchildren (Danny Ray Burcham III (Trae), Tanner Burcham, Madison Burcham, John Grisham, Lexi Kate Burcham, Darbi Gifford, Easton Grisham and Demi Ruth Grisham (due September 2020); 3 foreign exchange student grandsons, Hyunsung Shin of South Korea, Darcy Keating of Australia, and Carlos Torres of Spain; 2 brothers, Kerry Burcham (Joye) of Corinth, MS, Robert Burcham (Sandra) of Selmer, TN; 3 sisters Bobbie Rogers (the late Bruce Rogers) of Moss Point, MS, Janis Parker Downs (Tommy) of Oxford, MS, and Shannon Gatlin (the late Terry Gatlin) of Rienzi, MS; 1 adopted son, Khalid Sabri (Lydia Smolyer) of Villa Park, IL, 1 work brother, Harold "Bucky" Cornelison of Glen, MS; a host of nieces, nephews and other beloved friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Beaulah Jones Burcham and his in-laws, Junior and Mauveline Burcham Hendrix.
Pallbearers will be Harold "Bucky" Cornelison, Teddy Joe Belue, Robert Palmer, William Burcham, Matthew Irwin, and Steve Jones; Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Downs, J.C. Hall, Harold Bullard, Jimmy Lee Burcham, Arnold Burcham, Dr. Marion Hill, DDS, and Dr. Bob Crowe, DDS.
Mr. Burcham's family will receive guests on Thursday evening, June 18, from 5 – 8 pm at the church and again on Friday beginning at 2.
Arrangements will be handled by Corinthian Funeral Home.
