Leon was the youngest of two children, having a sister, Barbara Ellen Jones. He graduated from Harrison High School in Colorado Springs and attended some college throughout his life. Leon joined the military in the late 1970s as a member of the Army and was sharpshooter and also a missile-launcher repairman.

After his time in the Army, he discovered his interest in the field of Computer Science. He went to school for this field of study and made his career working for various companies during his lifetime. The last company he worked for was Allegion.

Leon had many interests during his lifetime. He enjoyed reading, especially books on government intrigue and conspiracy theories. He also read his bible and enjoyed listening to his favorite pastor over the internet. He would go scuba diving when the opportunity presented itself, and he loved going to the shooting range to practice. He spent time with sister on most holidays and enjoyed the company of niece and nephews. He also would visit relatives in South Carolina where his family was originally from.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sister Barbara Jones, niece Tamara Jones, nephews Richard Jones and Kevin Jones; all reside in Denver, CO. He will also be missed by various cousins, other relatives, and friends.
