Mary Evelyn Rule Bolton, Fountain City, Knoxville, age, 81. Mary went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, May 14, 2023.

Mary was born to Vida and Everette Rule on February 1, 1942. She graduated from Central High School in the class of 1960 and attended the University of Tennessee. She married John C. Bolton on August 26, 1961.Mary and John celebrated 61 years of marriage last August. Together they have two children, Laura Bolton Baker and John Edward Bolton.

Mary was a woman of faith and prayer. If you ever asked her to pray for you, she would stop whatever she was doing and pray for you on the spot. Her prayers seemed to reach God every time. She was petite in physical stature, but a powerful woman of God. She was often used by the Holy Spirit in gifts of healing, discernment, wisdom and knowledge. If you had the blessing of knowing her, then you know that she was faithfully devoted to God, Mary was a woman of incorruptible character and had a true love for others.

Mary authored two daily devotional books, "Behold Your God" and "Whispers of God". She taught the Bible for over 40 years and spoke at numerous conferences and churches. Over the years, she was active in the Aldersgate Renewal Ministries, was on the Board of Directors for Lost Sheep Ministries and held many leadership positions in Aglow International, most recently as TN state prayer coordinator. She was also a member of the Knoxville Northwest West Gideon's International Auxiliary. She was a member of Park West Church of God.

Mary loved to travel and take cruises. She loved the beach, but her TN mountains more.

Preceded in death by her parents Everett and Vida (Thornton) Rule; sister, Carolyn (Rule) Edge (Husband Thomas); mother-in law, Kathleen (Cochran) Bolton; aunt, Evelyn (Thornton) Shipman (Husband John).

Survived by her husband, John Cochran Bolton; daughter, Laura (Bolton) Baker (Husband Herschell); son, John Edward Bolton (Wife Laura Lea); grandchildren, Jeremiah Baker (Wife Chelsea and great-granddaughter, Kacie Baker), Ashley Baker, Kathleen Bolton, Ian Bolton, and Chris Roberts; sister Dana (Rule) Roesch (Husband Mike). Several dear nieces, nephews, and cousins. Many Christian brothers and sisters that became her extended family.

The family would like to thank all the friends who called, texted, prayed, visited, sent cards, and prepared meals or in a myriad of others ways shown their love and support. In addition, the family would like to thank the caregivers, the Hospice team, and all the staff, nurses, and doctors at UT Medical Center for their compassion and care.
