ROBERT 'BOB' MITCHELL

Robert 'Bob' Mitchell, 89, passed away Saturday March 15, 2008. Robert was born February 4, 1919 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the youngest of four children to parents Charles and Lura (Burrow) Mitchell.
Always somewhat of a rascal, the family has been regaled with stories of Bob and the mischievous things he was into as a boy. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1936 and 1940. On May 7, 1940 he married out beautiful Mother, Wandalee Irene Conard in Hutchinson. The young couple had three children in the next few years, Ronald, Carolyn, and Nancy. Dad became an electrician and made this his lifetime work. He received his 65 years IBEW, Local 112 certificate in 2007.
The year 1948 found the Mitchells moving to the Tri-Cities, WA as that's where the jobs were. He worked in many areas at Hanford and on several dams in the vicinity. The last child, Sally was born in Richland. Dad loved camping, fishing, throwing horseshoes, card games and bowling. He and Mom had many trophies for high scores. Many, many trips were made to Wild Horse Casino where he did well several times. He helped as a volunteer at the Pasco Senior Center serving and cleaning up. Dad enjoyed the friendships he made there. Dad was a member of the local Laryngectomee Club.
His last earthly home was 'From the Heart' group home. May he be blessed with eternal life in Heaven.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Wandalee (1990), father Charles Mitchell, mother Lura Brown, stepmother Venus Mitchell, brother Roy Mitchell, sisters Florence Lueckemeyer and Dorothy Withrow and stepbrother Bernold Mitchell, grandsons David and Robert Haisch.
He is survived by his son Ron (Sue) Mitchell, daughters Carloyn (Ken) Whitmire, Nancy (Gerald) Harris and Sally (Randy) Millsall of the Tri-Cities, also nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Columbia Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Internment to follow.
Donations can be made to Hospice at the Chaplaincy.
