Judge Sam C. Pointer, Jr. was a Federal District Judge. He was assigned school desegregation employment discrimination and jail and prision conditions, cases which attempted to follow the U. S. Supreme Court and appellate court decisions.

Honorable Pointer developed a reputation of handing tough complex litigations. From the Cast-Iron Pipe Anti-Trust to the National Steel Endustry Employment, and Plywood Anti-Trust and then into Sillicone-Gel breast Implant cases.

During his thirty [30] years on the bench seventeen as Chief Judge of the District, he served in many roles, amoungst were: Chairman of the Advisory Committee in Civil Rules; Judge of the Temporary Emergency Court of Appeals; and Member of the Judicial Conference of the United States; the Standing Committee on the Rules of Practice and Procedure; Judicial Ethics Committee and Judicial Council for the Eleventh Judicial Court.

He served for fifteen [15] years as Member of a five-person committee for the National Multi-State Bar exam.

He was a Life Member of the American Law Institute, past member of Sections Council of the American Bar Association, and past director of the American Judicature Society.
