Cheryl Ruth Campbell passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the age of 72.

She was born on March 4, 1951, to William and Ruth Kramer, as the fourth of their fifth children, all living on a farm near Primgher, Iowa. Cheryl graduated from Memphis Technical High School. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for several years before leaving offices to be a full-time homemaker.

Cheryl was a tremendous sister, wife, mother, and grandmother for her family. She is survived by husband Allen, sons Matthew (Connie) of Charlotte, NC, and Brian (Emily) of Germantown, TN; daughters Shannon (Jared) and Kendal of Memphis; brothers Billy Neil (Rita) and Kim Kramer. She was grandmother to Liam, Elijah, Wesley, Sophia and Nelson. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Lance (Sue) of Arlington Heights, IL, and Kyle of Memphis.

Other than her family, Cheryl's passions were reading and quilting. With her quilts, she put passion into every stitch, often turning scraps of cloth – even some kept over decades because they belonged to beloved members of her family – into beautifully intricate and colorful patterns for her quilts. Despite countless compliments and encouragement to sell her creations, she refused because of her modesty for her talent – and her belief it was impossible to sell something so made with love. She was equally passionate about her love of books, spending hours each night entertained by the web of mystery from detective novels. She made weekly trips to the Memphis-Shelby County Public Library and strategized over the volumes she planned to add to her reading list.

Cheryl loathed cooking.

Cheryl's time on Earth was all too brief, but her years she shared an abundant life full of love, compassion, understanding, wisdom, guidance, encouragement and laughter.
