CINDY LYNN CALHOUN TURNER SUGAR LAND - Cindy Lynn Calhoun Turner, age 56, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by friends and family, in Sugar Land, TX on March 25, 2018, after a three-and-a-half-year battle with breast cancer. She was a welcoming friend to all, whether at home, work, or church. Born on July 24, 1961 in Dallas, TX to Darvis Elton Calhoun and Frances Marie Barnett Calhoun, she graduated from Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland, TX in 1979 and then worked at Kraft Foods in Garland. While working at Occidental Petroleum Corporation, where she advanced from Accounting Clerk to IT Director, she earned her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Dallas Baptist University in 1996. Cindy and her husband, Dexter Turner, lived in Victoria, TX from 1985 to 1992. Cindy worked for Dupont and then Cain Chemical and Oxy. Dexter was a manager for Grandy's. Cindy was a member of First English Evangelical Lutheran Church during their residence in Victoria and they had many friends throughout the community through work, church and school. Cindy is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, Dexter Turner, and their beloved son Griffin Turner, who will be entering his senior year at Lehigh University next fall. Also surviving are her mother, Frances Calhoun of Dallas, TX, her brother Steve Calhounof Rowlett,TX, his wife Melissa and their children Cassey Renee and Alton James, and her brother Rodney Calhoun of Plano, TX, his wife Carol and their son Todd Aaron. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 7th, at Bentwood Trail Presbyterian Church, 6000 Bentwood Trail, Dallas, TX 75252. The service will be officiated by Cindy's friend and pastor, The Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Callender, with a reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Bentwood Trail Presbyterian Church in her memory.
