Obituary from flammfh.com:
Marie Birch passed away on May 19, 2023 in Idaho Falls, Idaho surrounded by her family. She was born August 31, 1934 in Rigby, Idaho, the daughter of Will Frank and Helen Hayes Burt. She was the second of 3 children.
She graduated from high school in St. Anthony in 1953, and on August 6, 1954 she married Vincent Aaron Birch in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Marie and Vincent lived their entire lives on their farm north of St. Anthony. While Marie was an attentive homemaker, that did not stop her from helping on the farm as well, whether it was bringing in the hay, grain harvest, digging potatoes or even the occasional stint helping out with the beloved dairy cows.
In the home she was an accomplished cook, having mastered many delicious home style recipes that her family enjoyed and looked forward to. If she wasn't busy cleaning or doing laundry, she would be on the sewing machine creating highest quality clothing for her family and folks who would have her make clothing for them. The secret ingredient to her cooking and sewing was no secret, it was pure love. Outside she loved flowers, and every year she painted the yard with a beautiful variety of flowers and shrubs. In the spring she could be found busily putting in new plants, and in the fall busily removing the dead flowers and relocating bushes to a new, more aesthetically pleasing place.
Marie loved her family more than anything, and was always there to coach, encourage, comfort, praise, listen to, and even the occasional scolding for their own good. Whether helping her children with school projects, making sure they had clean clothes and a full belly, counseling them on their relationships with friends and family, or enjoying family home evening, she always had her family first in her priorities.
Even being as busy as she was tending to family, she always found time to fulfill her callings in the church, whether it was Relief Society, Primary, or one of the many other callings that she served in. She and Vincent also served for many years in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg temples. There were not many times that went by when she was not happily serving in one calling or another.
Marie is survived by her five children: Kevin (Sabrina) Birch of Idaho Falls, Paul (Debbi) Birch of St. Anthony, Todd (Traci) Birch of Idaho Falls, Cheryl (Layne) Guymon of Rigby, and Jared (Brooke) Birch of Idaho Falls, as well as her sister Deanna Egbert of Idaho Falls. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She is preceeded in death by her parents, husband, Vincent, and brother, Boyd Burt.
A Viewing will be held Tuesday, May 23 at 9:30 am at the St. Anthony 3rd and 4th ward church, followed by funeral services at 11:00 am under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary, with Bishop Ronald Birch presiding. Interment will be in the Wilford Cemetery.
