Ohio Supreme Court Associate Justice. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of a famous writer and comedian, Cornelius Ambrose Logan, Sr. Logan took an interest in law and after completing his studies in the common schools, he became a student in the law office of the Hon. Timothy Walker. Logan went on to law school and graduated first in his class with honors at the Cincinnati Law College in 1851. His diploma was presented by General Winfield Scott. He was admitted to the bar and became Cincinnati's Prosecuting Attorney in 1852. He became a U.S. Circuit Court Judge in 1885 and contended for the adoption of a codified system over common law in Ohio. Several of his siblings earned notoriety. His brother, Cornelius Logan Jr., was a United States diplomat and ambassador to six different countries. His three sisters, Olive, Eliza, and Celia Logan were all actresses. Logan died in Cincinnati in 1906 when he was 77 years old.
