James R. Cyrus, better known as Jim, a beloved soul who is now in the presence of the Lord, peacefully passed away on May 21st, 2023. Born on February 12th, 1943, his life was a testament to unwavering faith, selfless service, and boundless love for both his family and God.

A distinguished veteran of the United States Navy, Jim selflessly served his country with honor and bravery. His time in the Navy was a testament to his dedication and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the freedoms we hold dear.

Beyond his military service, Jim had a special place in his heart for his family. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for generations to come. His warm smile and stern nature were a source of personable and respect to all who knew him. Jim's love extended not only to his human family but also to his four-legged companions. His affection for animals, particularly horses and Jack Russells, was unparalleled as he found solace in their presence.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Willie Raymond and Belle (Johnson) Cyrus and sister Sarah Virginia "Ginny" Phillips. Jim is survived by his wife Roberta Cyrus; children James Ray (Lee Ann) Cyrus, II, Larry Joseph (Andrea) Cyrus, and Morgan Lee (Shannon) Cyrus; stepchildren Lisa Collins, Eddie Regan, Glen Regan, and Daniel Regan; grandchildren Kennedy Cyrus-Hayes, Kassidy Price, Payton Cyrus, AJ Cyrus, Savannah Matthews, Morgan Levi Cyrus, Rylee Jo Cyrus, Mavin Silas Cyrus; 2 great grandchildren on the way; siblings Betty June Clevenger, Darlene Jenkins, Jo Ann Bradley, Sue Maynard, Rick Cyrus, and Freda Cyrus; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Cyrus Family Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Young Funeral Home.
