Mr. Barnes had been employed as a pipe fitter and welder for 35 years, and was a member of Local 533 of the Pipe Fitters Association. He was also a member of the Dub's Dread Seniors Golf Association and the Tower Senior Citizens Bowling League.
His wife, Virginia "Penny" Barnes, survived him; as well as a son, Russel Albert Barnes, of Champaign, Ill.; two daughters, Phyllis Jean Freeman of Edwardsville and Joyce Ann Enright of Kansas City; a sister, Jean Roark, of Anderson, Mo.; ten grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Services were held at the Maple Hill Chapel, where the family received friends. Interment was at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
