Mitchell Siegel, 1857 N. Olive St., died at 9:40 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Hospital after a day's illness.

He was born in New York on July 24, 1914 and had lived in South Bend five years, coming here from Chicago. In 1954 in South Bend, he married Eleanor Blankenship.

Mr. Siegel was employed by the South Bend Street Department.

Surviving are his widow; two stepsons: William E. Blankenship and Jay O. Blankenship; and a step-grandson, all of South Bend; two sisters: Rose Virshbo and Dorothy Siegel; and a brother: Max, all of Chicago.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Orvis Funeral Home where services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Walter D. Oberholtzer, pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. The body will be taken to the Palmer and Lower Funeral Home, 4225 Roosevelt Road, Chicago where friends may call Wednesday night and until the hour of services at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Waltheim Cemetery, Chicago.

Mr. Siegel was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Army.
