Mary Anthony Dickson was the daughter of Abraham Anthony and Mary Allen. At the age of eleven Mary and her family migrated from New York to Wisconsin. Obituary from "Wood County Reporter" from Grand Rapids Wisconsin, May 31, 1888, p. 1:
"Died in the town of Almond, May 14, 1888, Mary Anthony Dickson, wife of Walter Dickson, aged 55 years and six days. Mrs. Dickson was born in Alexandria, N.Y. May 9, 1833 and removed with her parents to Dane County, Wis., in 1844, then to Grand Rapids, Wis. in 1846. She married Walter Dickson January 1, 1851, and 1854 moved upon a farm where she resided up to the time of her death. She leaves a husband and four daughters, also a sister, Mrs. C. W. White, to mourn. Mrs. Dickson was a devoted wife, a wise, affectionate, sympathetic mother, a good neighbor and a trusty friend, and has passed to the possibilities of the higher life having earned by her life work the commendation of the master. Well done faithful servant, enter into the joys of the Lord. A wide circle of friends join in extending sympathy to the bereaved family."
