Jennie Alvina Heimdal was born on November 16, 1913 in Forest City, Iowa. Her parents were Osmund and Ovedia Heimdal. She was preceded in death by her parents, her four brothers, Selmer, Alfred, Edwin, and Otis and her daughter, Sheila Scott.
Jennie married Virgil York on December 29, 1939 in Lake Mills, Iowa. They lived in Forest City for awhile and then moved to Bricelyn, Minnesota where they operated a restaurant for several years. They then moved to Grand Junction, Iowa, where they acquired and operated the bowling alley for many years. Jennie was also a beautician for many years in Grand Junction. She also enjoyed knitting and quilting for family and friends and was very active in various activities at the First Presbyterian Church.
Virgil York passed away January 25, 1974.
Jennie married Keith Burrell, on November 8, 1982. They moved to Mission, Texas (where they met) in 1983 where they lived for 21 years. While there, they became very active in the First Baptist Church. One of the missions they really enjoyed was helping with the raising of donations for an orphanage in Monterey, Mexico that was operated by a Missionary from the church. In 2004 they moved to Clear Lake, Iowa until moving to the Jefferson Manor in 2005.
Keith Burrell passed away on May 7,2005.
Jennie is survived by her sister Hazel Severson of Clear Lake, Iowa; son, Ronald Lewis and wife, Judy of Taiwan; son, Dale Lewis and wife, Diane of Phoenix, Arizona; and son-in-law, Jerry Scott of Boone, Iowa.
She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Adam Lewis, Shane Lewis, Wendee Dunlap, Anthony Lewis, Paul Scott, Rodney Scott and Cindy Scott. Jennie is also survived by 11 great grand children: Adam Lewis Jr., Justina Lewis, Mia Lewis, Amy Dunlap, Rachael Dunlap, Erin Dunlap, Shawn McDole, Ethan George, Tanner George, Mason George and Brittany Strabley. She is also survived by one great-great grandchild: Bradley Strabley. Also surviving her are Keith's 3 children: daughter, Carole and John Jones of LaPort, Indiana; son, Robert and Caroline Burrell of Victor, Iowa; and daughter, Karen and Steve Wiegand of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Also surviving her are 11 of Keith's grandchildren: Kirk Goben, Kevin Goben, Kristy Rogers, Karey Covington, Brian Burrell, Sheila Bird, Kelly Burrell, Leigh Hilligas, Tami Tegtmeir, Tod Kahler and Jennifer Jones. There are also 21 of Keith's great grandchildren surviving her: Melissa Goben, Katie Goben, Amber Goben, Christin Rogers, Megan Rogers, Tiffany Rogers, Travis Burrell, Cristina Burrell, Noah Burrell, Kenneth Burrell, Dustin Burrell, Nichole Burrell, Colton Burrell, Steven Bird, Shane Bird, Andrew Hilligas, Brandon Hilligas, Christifer Hilligas, Neil Baumann, Lane Kahler and Eldon Kahler. She is also survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
