Self-employed seamstress

Blanch Northrup Barrett, 87, of Abilene died Sunday at a local hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church chapel with Dr. Chris Diebel officiating. Private graveside services will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.

Ms. Barrett was born and grew up in Abilene and was a self-employed seamstress. She was a member of Tuesday Ladies Bible and Quilting Class at Highland Church of Christ and was a lifetime member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Helen Phipps of Mineral Wells; two brothers, Merlin Northrup of Richardson and Horace Northrup of Tuscola; three sisters, Frances Ruth of Miami, Fla., Marjorie Lovelady of Abilene and Ruby Clarke of Claremore, Okla.; five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30-8 p.m. today.
