William Burton Badger (1925-1988)

William Burton Badger was born on October 24, 1925, in Holden, Utah the eldest and only son of Burton and Lila Badger. They named him Billie at birth, but he legally changed his name to William in 1968. He was baptized in the LDS Church on November 5, 1933.

William served in United States Army during World War II for 21 months from the Fall of 1944-1946. He was in Northern France for four and a half months and came home on furlough and got very ill and served the rest of the time in Texas.

He was called to serve a mission to the Central States Mission leaving in Janurary 14, 1948. He mainly served in Missiouri and Oklahoma among Indian tribes there. He returned home on Jan 21,1950. William loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and His gospel. He enjoyed served in different callings, as Ward Chorister, Choir Director, and Ward Clerk.

William married Maurine Romney in the Salt Lake Temple on June 6, 1950 and together they had four sons and 17 grandchildren. He was very proud of his sons--Robert, David, and Stephen who grew up to be fine men. Each one served missions and married in the Temple. Michael who died as an infant is buried next to him and his wife, Maurine.

William was a school teacher and taught both elementary and special needs children in the Alpine, Salt Lake City, Millard, and Davis County school districts. He was a very good looking man--six feet tall, blue eyes, and brown curley hair. He was musically inclined and shared his talent in singing at old folks'homes and care centers. He accompanyied himself on the autoharp. He had many other different talents and hobbies--ceramics, arts, crafts, crocheting, and cooking.

William suffered with heart problems and had triple and quadruple bi-pass surgeries. He passed away on July 3, 1988 in Salt Lake City at age 62. He is buried at the Orem City Cemetery in Utah.
