Mr. Brooks was the son of Andrew Jackson and Johnnie Lee (Yarbrough) Brooks. He married Verna Pearl Taylor on March 25, 1953 in Weatherford, Texas. He was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Earnest Brooks, and one sister, Ophelia Jefferson Kessler.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, one son, Lon Brooks of Shreveport, La.; two daughters, Gloretta Evans of Belen, New Mexico and Michelle Ankerson of Rawleigh, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Guy Hayes Brooks of Sunset and Horace Greeley Williams of Newcastle and two sisters; Francis Marie Donahue of Breckenridge and Billie Jean Jacobson of Eden.
