Jacob E. Hagopian was born in Fresno to his parents, Yervaht and Araxy Hagopian. As a child he attended Temperance Grammar School. His family moved to San Francisco at the beginning of World War II where Jacob attended Poly Tech High School. During high school he joined the U.S. Air Force as a Teletype Technician and received his high school diploma at Camp Scott Field in Illinois. Jacob spent three years in the service, mostly in the Philippines during World War II. After the war he and his family moved back to the Sunnyside area where Jacob began his 54 years of farming. His last farm was in Easton. He enjoyed farming because of the challenge and uncertainty of the environment.

Jacob met his future wife, Betty Ann Noorigian, at St. Paul's Armenian Church. A three month whirlwind courtship led to a 45 year marriage. The couple was blessed with three sons, Jeffery David, Jacob Daniel and Edward Michael-Moses. Jeff and Danny helped with the farming while growing up.

Jacob was a member of many clubs and organizations including Sunnyside Little League, Neisse Farmers, Sun Maid, California Armenian Home, St. Paul Armenian Church and Fresno Masonic Lodge and he was also a member of Tehran Shrine. He spent 54 years farming raisin grapes in Biola, Kerman, Sunnyside and finally Easton. He traveled with his wife Betty to New York, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Mexico and Nova Scotia. They went by train across Canada, Branson, Mo., San Francisco and Pismo Beach. They also went to all sporting events in California including basketball games, Giants baseball, San Francisco 49ers football games and Fresno Grizzle games. Jacob is survived by Betty Ann, his wife of 45 years; sons Jeffery, Danny and Ed; sister-in-law, Marge Noorigian; and long-time friend, David Jacinto. He will be dearly missed.
