The Sydney Morning Herald, 7 November 1945:

MORTIMER.-NX26393 Sgt. Henry William 2/1Oth Field Ambulance. died p.o.w. February 17. 1945. Sandakan Borneo, dearly beloved husband of Veronica Beatrice and father of Harry, Gordon, Kevin, Eileen, Francis, and Joan, of 29 Chasling Street, Lakemba. Always remembered.

Gravestone reads: In loving memory of Sgt. Henry William Mortimer, 2/10th Field Ambulance, 2nd AIF. Died Prisoner of War Borneo 17-2-1945 aged 48 years. Also his beloved wife Veronica Beatrice died 1-6-1964 aged 62 years.
