Death of Mr. Doll

A telegram dated today came from Dannebrog to Theo. Sievers, announcing that Mr. Jochim Doll, one of our first pioneers, about 70 years old, died suddenly and will be buried tomorrow. If some of our old settlers want to attend the funeral, they are requested to confer with Mr. Chris. Menck. Mr. j. Doll came here with the first colony which started from Davenport and located on July 4th, 1857, just 41 years ago, right south of our present city. He lived for a long time on a farm north of our city, now occupied by Mr. Roush. A number of years ago he moved to Howard county, where he opened and greatly improved a large farm a few miles north of Dannebrog. he was an industrious, hard working and very honest man and a much respected citizen. The INDEPENDENT and his many friends mourn his loss and sympathize with his bereaved family. The train for Dannebrog leaves the U.P. depot at 7:30 a.m.
