NANCY HOPKINS DUCKWORTH

Nancy Hopkins Duckworth, daughter of Greenup and Eliza Hopkins, was born in Logan County, Ohio, on September 19, 1847. She died at her home in Lancaster, Missouri on October 5, 1946, aged at the time of her death, 99 years and 16 days.

When but nine months of age her parents moved to Davis County, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood and there, on March 28, 1867, she married her neighbor, Enoch A. Duckworth.

To this union were born four sons: Arthur D., Charles C., who died on August 31, 1936, John C., who died on November 20, 1928, and William A. Duckworth.

The Duckworth family moved to Lancaster, Missouri on March 1, 1880. Here the family became a part of the community and engaged in the drug business and were so engaged for many years. Her husband died on October 19, 1911, and since his death, she has continued to live in Lancaster, where, during the latter years of her life she was tenderly cared for by her son, Arthur.

As long as her health and strength permitted, she was active in the affairs of the community. She was a member of the Christian Church and was a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star, of Lancaster.

She is survived by two sons, Arthur and William, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She suffered from no disease; she simply passed on, the victim of the toil of the long, active life she had led, during which her delight was to serve her family and her friends.

The body lie in state at the Funeral Parlor until time of services which were held at the Christian Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, October 8, by Rev. B. D. Bradbury. Interment was in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
