Former Alaska resident Alice Lenore Abrahamson, 84, died March 14 at the Good Shepherd Villa in Mesa, Ariz. A memorial service was in Mesa along with entombment at Sunland Memorial Park.
Mrs. Abrahamson was born Oct. 29, 1909, in Fargo, N.D. She attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. She had worked for the Alaska Department of Public Safety as an administrative secretary and had lived in Anchorage during the 1960s and early 1970s. She was also a teacher at Augustana Academy in Canton, S.D. She moved to Arizona from Clarkston, Wash., 19 years ago. Mrs. Abrahamson was a member of Victory Lutheran Church in Mesa and a former member of the American Lutheran Church in Sun City. She served on the board of regents for Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., and many women's organizations within the church. She was president of the South Dakota District Women's Federation and twice nominated as Mother-of-the-Year, once in South Dakota and once in Anchorage.
Mrs. Abrahamson is survived by her husband, the Rev. Albert Abrahamson of Mesa; daughters, Ruth Cleveland of San Diego, and Joy Poch of Houston, Texas; sons, Luther of Peoria, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be sent to the Good Shepherd Villa Chapel Fund, 5848 E. University, Mesa, Ariz. 85205.
