BYRON, ROGER lives a mile and a quarter from Elk Grove, his Post Office, and sixteen miles from Sacramento; was born March 16, 1830, in Ireland, and lived there until 1851; he emigrated to the United States in that year, and lived about two years in Connecticut, where he was engaged in farming; he then moved to the State of New York, and remained there until 1859; he came to California in that year via the Isthmus, and settled in this county near present location; moved to where he now lives in 1866; is engaged in farming and fruit raising: owns three hundred and thirteen acres of land, which, with improvements, are worth about $4, 500. He was married in 1857 to Miss C. Hassett, also a native of Ireland; they have five children---one son and four daughters.
